Base Salary
$162k - $301k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead refactoring and modernization of an embedded C/C++ software baseline using memory-safe principles.
- Translate NSA security and robustness requirements into actionable engineering tasks.
- Establish coding standards, design patterns, and automated analysis and testing pipelines for memory safety.
- Guide adoption of modern programming practices, tools, frameworks, static and dynamic analysis, fuzz testing, sanitizers, and secure coding approaches.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, cybersecurity, testing, and integration teams on requirements traceability and compliance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineering teams.
- Develop technical strategies and long-term visions for future information assurance products and systems.
- Serve as the primary technical interface with stakeholders, government customers, and leadership regarding compliance and risk mitigation.
- Support Cost Account Management activities, including proposal development, resource management, and schedule planning and status updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field and at least 12 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience or 16 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- At least 12 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 8 years of C/C++ embedded systems development.
- Leadership experience managing small-to-mid-sized software teams and mentoring engineers.
- Familiarity with DoD and National Security Agency software standards and high-assurance or safety-critical systems.
- Expertise identifying and mitigating memory-safety vulnerabilities in legacy codebases.
- Experience with static and dynamic code analysis, fuzz testing, sanitizers, secure coding frameworks, embedded build tools, and debugging embedded targets.
- Experience using Linux and Windows command-line environments for software development.
- Experience with software configuration management tools such as Git, Perforce, or ClearCase.
- Proficiency with Makefiles, cross-compilers, linkers, debuggers, JTAG, and hardware/software debugging tools.
- Experience developing low-level device drivers and FPGA interfaces using memory-mapped registers and interrupts.
- Experience with continuous integration and development.
- Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to work onsite in a secure facility.
- Strong communication skills and ability to brief executives and government stakeholders on technical matters.
