Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and launch backend systems that enable Affirm Card checkout and in-app experiences.
- Break larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate with teammates and stakeholders for timely execution.
- Partner with product management, design, and analytics to evaluate technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Create and monitor metrics, support service availability, escalate issues, and participate in on-call and keep-the-lights-on efforts.
- Write clear, tested, extensible code; navigate and debug large codebases; and participate in code reviews.
- Contribute to team growth and development activities, including interviewing.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to write high-quality, understandable, well-tested, and extensible code.
- Experience solving problems involving multiple software components and working effectively in large codebases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to professional growth.
