Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain complex Java and Python applications for the FTSE Russell Index Platform.
- Architect and enhance distributed, performance-critical services supporting large-scale index computations.
- Build and integrate AI-powered features and intelligent solutions using LLMs, LangChain, LangGraph, and agentic AI frameworks.
- Establish engineering practices for safe, scalable, traceable, production-ready AI deployments.
- Lead projects end-to-end across requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Build automated test suites for performance, scalability, and security.
- Diagnose production issues, identify root causes, and provide Level 3 support and fixes.
- Conduct peer reviews, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on backend software engineering experience.
- Expertise in Core Java and Python.
- Strong algorithms, data structures, problem-solving, and high- and low-level software design skills.
- Experience building highly distributed, data-intensive systems and working with microservices and REST APIs.
- Experience with RDBMS technologies including Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab and DevOps automation.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, JVM profiling, and performance optimization.
- Prior Level 3 production support experience.
- Preferred: experience leading or mentoring engineers.
- Preferred: financial services or financial market data experience.
- Preferred: familiarity with in-memory caching, Spring Boot, Redis, or Kafka.
- Preferred: experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber, JBehave, or Karate.
- Preferred: Scrum Master experience or experience running Agile teams.
