Base Salary

$135k - $195k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware and software bring-up for unmanned aerial systems from benchtop prototypes through active flight-test campaigns.
  • Configure and deploy embedded Linux and containerized software stacks using Docker, shell scripts, and Linux system tools.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle networks, payload interfaces, sensor links, and onboard systems using command-line tools and hardware diagnostics.
  • Develop Python and C++ scripts for data reduction, log analysis, system validation, and real-time subsystem verification.
  • Fabricate wiring harnesses, perform precision soldering, and define system-level architecture with block diagrams.
  • Configure IP routing, subnets, and local network interfaces connecting flight controllers, companion computers, radios, and ground control stations.
  • Lead major integration efforts and coordinate technically across software, GNC, and hardware teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in robotics integration, flight test engineering, embedded systems, or autonomous vehicles, preferably aerial systems.
  • Deep practical experience with Linux CLI tools, file management, system logging, IP routing, subnets, and Docker deployments.
  • Hands-on ability with wiring, custom cable assembly, soldering, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and physical diagnostics.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, C++, or Shell scripting for automation, test suites, and flight-data processing.
  • Direct experience with UART, CAN, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C protocols.
  • Ability to lead integration efforts independently and serve as the technical link between software, GNC, and hardware teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and possession of or eligibility for a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred: active DoD Secret clearance, MAVLink, PX4, ArduPilot, Persistent Systems or Silvus radios, FAA Part 107 certification, R/C flight experience, and defense or flight-range experience.

  • Full-time employees are primarily expected to work from an Applied Intuition office five days per week, with occasional remote flexibility.
  • The role may be located at the Drone Lab near Fort Walton Beach, Florida, or the Ann Arbor, Michigan office; relocation is offered.
