Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for a product ML domain, including problem framing, approach selection, evaluation strategy, and iteration.
- Build ML-powered data products and develop, train, evaluate, and improve models using disciplined experimentation and error analysis.
- Design event, feature, label, transformation, and training/serving data foundations with reliable quality and consistency.
- Deploy and operate batch and real-time production ML systems with attention to latency, reliability, cost, rollback, and retraining.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and observability for data freshness, feature quality, drift, model performance, and incidents.
- Automate reproducible training and evaluation workflows, including versioning and artifact tracking.
- Establish reusable batch and streaming feature-pipeline patterns, backfills, schema evolution, data contracts, and data-governance standards.
- Lead design reviews, improve engineering standards, document decisions, mentor engineers, and unblock delivery across teams.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, and platform teams to define success metrics and ship ML features.
- Apply responsible ML and privacy practices, including PII handling, access controls, bias and fairness considerations, and model-risk awareness.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, data engineering, or software engineering, including technical leadership for ML or data systems.
- Strong Python and SQL skills with production-quality engineering practices, including testing, code reviews, and maintainable, performant code.
- Demonstrated ownership of model development and evaluation, including metric selection, experimentation discipline, and error analysis.
- Experience shipping and operating production ML systems, including monitoring, rollback or retraining strategies, and upstream data or feature-pipeline coordination.
- Understanding of supervised learning, evaluation metrics, common failure modes, data quality, bias, leakage, and product measurement.
- Familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and data tooling such as Spark, dbt, Airflow, or Dagster.
- Familiarity with data warehouses or lakehouses, orchestration and ETL tools, feature stores, training/serving consistency, and batch or streaming pipelines.
- Preferred experience with personalization, recommendations, ranking, forecasting, NLP, experimentation, A/B testing, uplift or impact analysis, observability, responsible AI, and data privacy.
- Preferred experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Fabric, Airflow, Dagster, or other infrastructure and workflow tooling used to run ML jobs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Benefits
- Annual base pay range is $171,000–$198,000 USD.
- Medical, financial, and/or other benefits are offered depending on the position.
- Annual incentive reference value is 30%.
- The position is located in Atlanta, United States, with 0%–25% travel required.
