Base Salary
$189k - $207k/yr
Responsibilities
- Coordinate software development to align requirements and integrate software with EV system components.
- Design, develop, test, and document embedded software for safety-critical vehicle components, including battery protections.
- Develop low-level peripheral drivers, battery-management algorithms, vehicle communication protocols, and real-time power-converter controls.
- Integrate high-voltage EV components and validate power-conversion features using high-voltage test benches and hardware-in-the-loop platforms.
- Define test cases, support test teams, participate in firmware, hardware, systems, and functional-safety reviews, and troubleshoot hardware/software behavior.
- Analyze functional safety and failure avoidance for electrical and software vehicle subsystems, including HARA and FMEAs.
- Develop and optimize calibration parameters to improve safety and system performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Six years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Six years of experience implementing embedded C software in RTOS and bare-metal environments, developing ARM Cortex drivers, troubleshooting circuits with laboratory instruments, and integrating high-voltage EV components.
- Four years of experience implementing CAN, CAN-FD, SPI, I2C, UART, LIN, and UDS; developing software according to MISRA C and ISO 26262 for ASIL B or higher; and implementing battery-management algorithms including SOC, SOH, SOE, and SOT.
- Two years of experience developing firmware and real-time controls for high-frequency DCDC converters and evaluating controls performance with HIL platforms such as Typhoon, dSPACE, or OPAL-RT.
- Ability to work hybrid from within reasonable commuting distance of the Long Beach, California worksite.
