Responsibilities

  • Define the technical architecture and long-term technology strategy for HPE’s data center networking portfolio, including SONiC-based solutions, open networking platforms, and AI networking infrastructure.
  • Lead architectural design and technology decisions across networking hardware, network operating systems, cloud-native software, automation frameworks, observability, and management platforms.
  • Translate customer, market, and business requirements into scalable architectures and platform capabilities with product management.
  • Establish architectural standards, design principles, performance requirements, and system-level tradeoffs with engineering teams.
  • Drive architecture reviews and provide technical leadership across multiple product and engineering teams.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive solutions to identify innovation opportunities.
  • Define reference architectures for enterprise, cloud provider, service provider, and AI data center environments.
  • Balance scalability, reliability, security, operational simplicity, and time-to-market in roadmap decisions.
  • Engage strategic customers and partners to understand deployment requirements and validate architectural direction.
  • Coordinate end-to-end architectural alignment across hardware, ASIC, software, security, and systems teams.
  • Mentor principal engineers and senior technical leaders and help build the organization’s architectural community.
  • Represent HPE Networking in customer briefings, executive reviews, industry forums, standards organizations, and technical conferences.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in data center networking, including switching, routing, network operating systems, and large-scale network deployments.
  • Strong understanding of open networking architectures, SONiC, Linux-based networking systems, and modern network automation frameworks.
  • Experience developing architectures for enterprise, hyperscale cloud, AI cluster, high-performance computing, or service provider environments.
  • Knowledge of networking silicon, ASIC architectures, packet processing pipelines, and hardware/software interaction models.
  • Experience designing highly available, scalable, and secure distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to influence engineering, product, and executive stakeholders through technical leadership and architectural vision.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to technical and business audiences.
  • Experience leading architecture reviews, technical strategy development, and cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced degree, hands-on SONiC development or deployment, AI/ML networking, GPU fabrics, large-scale AI infrastructure, cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, container networking, microservices architectures, network automation, observability, telemetry, intent-based networking, standards bodies, open-source communities, or networking ecosystem initiatives are preferred.
