Responsibilities
- Design and build core search engine components, including indexing pipelines, retrieval algorithms, and ranking systems, at the scale of billions of pages.
- Develop streaming and batch data processing systems for search index construction in a high-load environment.
- Improve hardware performance through low-level optimizations and systems-level tuning.
- Solve challenges involving multithreading, concurrency, and system-level optimization.
- Own the architecture, design, implementation, deployment, operation, and scaling of foundational production systems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on systems programming experience with Rust, C++, C, or a similar language.
- Experience owning the full project lifecycle, including building, deploying, operating, and scaling systems in production.
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages.
- Strong ability to write clean, efficient, and scalable systems-level code.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
- Deep understanding of multithreading, including its approaches, challenges, and trade-offs.
- Experience building high-load, distributed, and hardware-adjacent services.
- Solid understanding of Linux internals, including syscalls, networking, the memory model, and kernel tuning.
- Familiarity with low-level optimization techniques such as memory management, cache efficiency, SIMD, and profiling.
- Preferred: experience developing core components of search engines, databases, or information retrieval systems.
- Preferred: understanding of indexing, query parsing, ranking, and relevance.
- Preferred: experience with trading systems or other latency-sensitive real-time systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with cloud services, Kubernetes, and AWS infrastructure.
