Responsibilities
- Design and build reliable services, APIs, and product-facing workflows.
- Work across backend systems, UI surfaces, event processing, and third-party integrations.
- Translate ambiguous problems into concrete technical plans and make trade-offs clear.
- Own production behavior, including monitoring, alerting, logging, debugging, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with product, design, infrastructure, support, and engineering teams.
- Improve quality through automated tests, code review, observability, and simpler designs.
- Use data and production evidence to validate decisions and take ownership of incidents and production issues.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with strong backend skills in Java, Scala, Kotlin, Go, or a similar language.
- Preferred minimum bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, or management information systems, or equivalent experience.
- Experience owning ambiguous technical work across multiple system layers, including backend services and product-facing frontend workflows when needed.
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven flows, caching, retries, rate limits, APIs, services, integrations, SQL, and data-driven product decisions.
- Experience with a cloud platform such as GCP or AWS and event systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pub/Sub.
- Ability to write automated tests, review code, use observability data, debug production systems, and communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred experience with React or TypeScript, merchant- or customer-facing products, OAuth, account linking, external APIs, Redis, caching or queues at scale, analytics, and event-data products.
