Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust, high-performance backend features and core services at scale.
- Build and scale systems supporting global commerce, payments, issuing platforms, money ledgers, expense management, policy automation, administrative controls, and accounting integrations.
- Own features end to end from design and development through deployment, operational support, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Solve large-scale engineering challenges involving reliability, performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business leaders in a global cross-functional environment.
- Champion code quality, documentation, monitoring, testing, and other engineering best practices.
- Stay current with technologies and industry trends while delivering maintainable solutions to complex problems.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience building and scaling complex systems, with exceptional candidates with less experience considered.
- Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, including a strong understanding of JVM performance and optimization.
- Proven experience leveraging AI models and AI-driven development for intelligent features and engineering productivity.
- Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design, plus practical experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining consumer-facing or core business products at scale.
- A record of delivering production-quality, maintainable code and supporting features after release.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional partners.
- Commitment to testing, documentation, scalability, code quality, and other engineering best practices.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Fintech or payments processing experience is preferred.
- Experience with expenses, payments, ERP, tax, or similarly high-stakes financial or workflow-heavy domains is preferred.
