Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Embed with new and existing customer practices remotely and on-site to map prior authorization, referral, and related workflows.
- Build and own integrations connecting Ascertain’s agents to EHR APIs, payer portals, fax, EDI, document intake, and practice systems.
- Configure and extend the agent platform, including ontology, prompts, tools, guardrails, and escalation paths.
- Debug production issues across data, prompts, APIs, UI, and related human workflows.
- Serve as the technical voice in customer conversations and translate operational needs into engineering decisions.
- Share deployment learnings with product and platform teams to create reusable patterns.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience shipping production code in a commercial engineering role.
- Fluency in Python and proficiency with SQL, REST APIs, and at least one full-stack or front-end framework.
- Experience delivering in environments where the problem was not fully specified, such as an early-stage startup, consulting, applied research, or operations-heavy role.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to lead working sessions with non-technical practice managers and write concise specifications.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites.
- Healthcare experience with EHRs, claims and EDI, HL7/FHIR, payer portals, revenue cycle management, or prior authorization workflows is strongly preferred.
- Production experience with LLMs or agent frameworks, including prompt design, evaluations, tool use, retrieval, or guardrails, is strongly preferred.
- Applied integration experience with OAuth flows, webhooks, browser automation, PDF or document parsing, and prior embedded enterprise-customer engineering experience is strongly preferred.
