Responsibilities
- Build scalable, performant, and maintainable code for the storage layer of planet-scale databases.
- Work on core distributed database components including storage engines, transaction processing, replication, failover, and performance optimization.
- Participate in code reviews with attention to coding standards, diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Identify performance and scalability issues.
- Support live-service operations through a rotational on-call schedule.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to build highly reliable, strongly consistent database systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience building and supporting production-grade distributed cloud services.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master’s degree and 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
