Responsibilities
- Serve as the quality gate for Commerce feature releases by writing test plans, executing structured regression passes, and documenting coverage gaps.
- Build and maintain an E2E test suite for key storefront and brand-portal customer journeys and integrate it into CI so regressions are caught on every pull request.
- Define and execute quality strategies for Shopify storefront app blocks, checkout extensions, onboarding flows, and brand configuration interfaces.
- Maintain cross-theme QA coverage for compatibility scenarios requiring human verification.
- Define coverage matrices and quality gates across Commerce product areas including Protect, Engage, Resolve, Unbox, and Renew.
- Surface quality metrics, participate in sprint planning and specification reviews, and shift quality earlier in the development process.
- Use AI coding tools as a productivity multiplier while maintaining independent technical judgment.
Requirements
- 4+ years of dedicated Software Engineer in Test or quality engineering experience in a production software environment.
- 4+ years of production TypeScript experience across test frameworks and CI tooling.
- Experience building and maintaining Playwright or Cypress E2E suites for production web applications.
- Experience writing test plans, executing structured regression passes, and filing detailed, actionable bugs.
- Experience integrating test suites with GitHub Actions or an equivalent CI/CD system.
- Experience with API-level testing, request/response contracts, and authentication flows.
- Strong ownership, accountability, communication, production mindset, and learning agility.
- Preferred familiarity with Shopify theme app extensions, checkout extensions, Shopify Functions, or App Bridge.
- Preferred experience with visual regression tools such as Percy or Chromatic.
- Commerce or ecommerce domain knowledge and experience establishing test infrastructure without dedicated QA are preferred.
- Python proficiency is preferred.
- Exposure to Elixir codebases and performance or load testing is a nice-to-have.
