Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction and delivery of Database Engineering Squad 2.
- Design and optimize database architectures across SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
- Drive database performance tuning, scalability improvements, and modernization initiatives.
- Establish standards for database design, migrations, security, backup, and recovery.
- Lead complex schema changes, cloud migrations, and high-availability solutions.
- Partner with engineering teams to resolve performance and reliability challenges.
- Mentor and coach Database Engineers and promote AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Contribute to major incident management, root-cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
- Champion automation, infrastructure as code, database CI/CD, and operational best practices.
Requirements
- Extensive database engineering experience covering architecture, performance tuning, and operational excellence at scale.
- Strong expertise in PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
- Experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, or Managed Instance.
- Proven ability to lead technical direction while remaining hands-on.
- Experience with automation, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and modern Git workflows.
- Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
