Responsibilities
- Develop requirements and embedded software for system integration, batteries, inverters, solar products, and battery-based products.
- Design board-level and system/product-level firmware and collaborate with hardware and systems engineers on firmware architecture.
- Use AI tools for engineering validation testing and sanity verification.
- Test and troubleshoot prototype designs with cross-functional system design validation testing engineers.
- Develop sensor drivers, closed-loop control algorithms, and bootloader implementations.
- Test code and hardware with and without equipment such as oscilloscopes and power meters.
- Carry design tasks from concept through implementation and verification and document requirements, solutions, and test results.
- Support production-scale product launches and investigate customer or field issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and work across commercial product domains.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 8+ years of experience in a similar non-academic embedded software or firmware engineering role.
- Master of Science or Master of Technology with 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Python for automating software development workflows and expertise in C for real-time applications.
- Strong experience with bare-metal development and real-time operating systems; Zephyr experience is ideal or preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot firmware issues in complex systems and test code and hardware using external test equipment.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Cloud Suite, Confluence, JIRA, Git, GCC, GDB, Eclipse, and GNU Make.
- Experience or familiarity with sensor drivers, closed-loop control algorithms, ARM Cortex-M4/M7, STM32 or similar microcontroller architectures, bootloaders, AC grid simulators, DC-to-AC inverters, cooling-system controls, and Battery Management Systems.
- Knowledge of UL and IEC standards, advanced grid functions, and fault conditions is preferred.
- Experience launching products at production scale and addressing customer or field issues is preferred.
