Responsibilities
- Architect, design, ship, and lead major backend platform features for device provisioning, OTA firmware rollout, metrics, IoT services, and licensing.
- Scale the Device Platform backend from millions of devices to the next order of magnitude while maintaining consistency, latency, and uptime guarantees.
- Lead operational improvements that increase system robustness, reduce pager noise, and improve incident learning.
- Drive cross-team technical alignment and shape the platform roadmap with other engineering teams.
- Teach and mentor through design reviews, code reviews, written communication, and direct mentorship.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building backend services at scale with consistency, latency, and uptime guarantees.
- Fluency in at least one server-side language, with Python or Go preferred.
- Experience with Ruby or JavaScript/Node.js is welcome as an adjacent language background.
- Ability to listen to engineering teams, shape shared technical direction, and ship dependable platform changes.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident for FedRAMP compliance.
- Must be able to work onsite five days per week.
