Responsibilities
- Own and contribute to the migration data platform that moves customer data from external issuers into Marqeta systems at scale.
- Build and maintain automation for provisioning infrastructure, programs, and customer sandbox environments.
- Support sandbox and simulation services for integration testing and payment-network transaction validation.
- Use workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow and AWS Step Functions to implement multi-step processes and API-driven pipelines.
- Participate in planning, on-call rotations, bug triage, metrics reviews, process improvements, and team focus-area rotations.
- Deliver secure and compliant products while contributing to team onboarding and community activities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or an advanced degree with no relevant experience; 5+ years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- Experience developing with Java and Spring Boot.
- Cloud experience, preferably with AWS.
- Ability to understand existing designs and technology choices and make appropriate adjustments.
- Ability to communicate difficult task-level trade-offs that affect the product.
- Ability to collaborate productively on cross-functional teams and respond positively to constructive feedback.
- Preferred experience includes payments or FinTech, ETL processes, data migration, Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Spark, Iceberg, and AWS Glue.
