Responsibilities
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Design, build, and run Java-based products and services hosted on-premises and in the cloud.
- Develop web services and applications using Java and Spring Boot or related frameworks.
- Analyze systems, troubleshoot defects, write tests, and improve functionality and performance.
- Review and refactor existing code to improve reliability, robustness, performance, and operability.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, DevOps engineers, testers, and business teams in a self-organizing team.
- Lead engineers on large product initiatives and provide technical coaching to less experienced engineers.
- Lead technical discussions and provide technical advice and decision-making for teams, platforms, products, or major projects.
Requirements
- At least five years of commercial experience with the Java programming language.
- At least five years of professional experience in web system design and development.
- Experience developing applications with Spring Boot or related frameworks.
- Familiarity with AWS, cloud-native applications, and microservice architectures.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including SQL, DDL, and ACID concepts.
- Comfort working in Unix/Linux environments.
- Strong analysis, problem-solving, written, and spoken communication skills.
- Preferred experience with Redis or Hazelcast caching strategies.
- Preferred experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging systems.
- Preferred familiarity with Jenkins, Docker, and continuous integration and deployment tools.
- Preferred experience leading a small team of developers and working with Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
- Frontend experience with HTML, JavaScript, or React is a plus.
- Experience acting as the primary technical decision-maker for a team, platform, product, or major project is preferred.
