Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review functional requirements, analysis, and design documents and provide feedback.
- Implement, test, maintain, and support software based on technical designs.
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of robust, scalable web services.
- Improve system quality by identifying issues, developing standard operating procedures, and maintaining code quality.
- Enhance applications, maintain existing codebases, conduct code reviews, and investigate relevant technologies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, product stakeholders, customer support, and cross-functional teams on technical solutions.
- Mentor less experienced developers and lead or participate in additional engineering projects.
- Drive cloud, DevOps, or AI modernization initiatives and translate AI innovation into business and productivity impact.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience in Java full-stack development or Java Enterprise Edition.
- At least 10 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments and mission-critical, low-latency solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles, preferably implemented in Java.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of robust and highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud-based big data systems.
- Understanding of unit, functional, performance, and test-driven development practices.
- React front-end experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, database systems, and data architecture.
- Experience integrating with event buses such as Pulsar and cloud-based big data solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and best practices and at least one shell scripting language.
- Understanding of big data, machine learning, LLMs, automation, and engineering toolchains.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architecture and modernization initiatives, operate across multiple levels of abstraction, and deliver results across cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, decision-making, and mentoring skills.
