Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Contribute to technical design decisions for IPC services with attention to delivery speed and long-term maintainability.
- Design, build, and operate backend services using Python, PostgreSQL, Go, Java, and the Drools rules engine.
- Partner with other engineering teams on integrations across Bestow’s platform.
- Build scalable platform capabilities for carrier onboarding, product launches, and configuration flexibility.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing.
- Maintain and improve production reliability, observability, and SLOs while sharing on-call responsibility for IPC workloads.
- Use agentic AI coding tools and help the team adopt effective AI-assisted development practices.
- Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and status clearly in a remote-first, async-heavy environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend software development experience at the Senior level.
- Strong proficiency in Go and Python, with additional Java experience preferred.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design using Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases at scale.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, GCP, or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
- Track record of building, deploying, and troubleshooting production services end to end.
- Experience identifying risks proactively, proposing solutions, and driving work to completion.
- Ability to write maintainable, well-tested software and uphold a high quality standard.
- Daily experience using agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
