Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and performant backend services and REST APIs using Groovy, Java, and Micronaut.
- Implement Angular UI components and services that interact with the Seqera Platform API.
- Design data models and APIs that remain consistent across services and releases.
- Build reusable code, backend-to-client integrations, and end-to-end tests.
- Analyze requirements and develop product features while optimizing application performance and scalability.
- Own technical decisions within the assigned area and document systems for maintainability.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Design teams.
- Operate and maintain customer-facing production services.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience building and operating production backend services, including ownership of at least one service.
- Strong Java and/or Groovy experience with Micronaut, Spring Boot, or a similar framework.
- Experience designing REST APIs and data models and maintaining integrations across versions and failures.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and Angular or React.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Experience being accountable for a customer-facing production system.
- Ability to inherit and document systems, work independently through ambiguity, and maintain high standards for correctness and data integrity.
- Experience with billing, metering, or other systems where incorrect data has significant consequences is preferred.
- Experience with event-based systems, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud services, E2E testing frameworks, scientific data workflows, bioinformatics, microservices, highly parallel applications, or open-source contributions is preferred.
