Responsibilities
- Define and steward the overall data technology architecture and multi-year data platform strategy.
- Set data storage visions and reference architectures covering identity, permissions, tenancy, configuration, notifications, auditing, and compliance.
- Guide data storage evolution across continuity, relational databases, replication, caching, graphing, and multi-tenancy.
- Modernize legacy data architecture and enable scalable cloud-native patterns.
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to communicate data architecture vision, strategy, and tradeoffs.
- Evolve the Internal Developer Platform with standardized, self-service workflows and tooling that improve delivery and DORA metrics.
- Guide data modeling, streaming, analytics, AI and agent platform patterns, and evaluation and observability.
- Design for reliability, security, and compliance through SLOs, error budgets, canaries, chaos testing, multi-region disaster recovery, authentication, authorization, auditing, and compliance controls.
- Enable growth, monetization, and FinOps through usage metering, entitlements, pricing tiers, quotas, rate limits, and unit-economics telemetry.
- Lead ADR and RFC processes, design reviews, architecture guilds, mentoring, and prototypes for major migrations and technical decisions.
Requirements
- 10+ years designing and operating data storage technology at scale in cloud-native SaaS environments.
- Experience with AWS or GCP, MySQL, relational and graph databases, NoSQL, caching, event systems, and progressive delivery.
- Proven ownership of data movement through developer portals and partner onboarding or marketplaces, including versioning, deprecation, webhook, and event architectures.
- Experience with REST, GraphQL, Kafka, PubSub, or equivalent technologies.
- Deep knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC, scope design, RBAC/ABAC, multi-tenant isolation, auditing, privacy-preserving patterns, and compliance workflows.
- Fluency with tracing, logs, metrics, SLO and error-budget practices, chaos testing, disaster recovery, and secure webhook delivery.
- Demonstrated developer-experience and efficiency impact, including DORA improvements, faster time-to-first-service, and improved unit economics or FinOps.
- Preferred experience with developer platforms, golden paths, SDKs, integrations, marketplaces, event-driven systems, GraphQL federation, and data/AI platforms.
- Ability to influence executive and engineering stakeholders, communicate complex ideas clearly, mentor technical leaders, and build architecture communities.
