Advanced Engineer - Embedded Software

- Design, develop, and port Linux device drivers for HARMAN hardware platforms.
- Create and adapt Device Tree and Linux kernel build parameters using board schematics and component datasheets.
- Design and develop scalable automotive-standard Linux applications.
- Debug Linux kernel crashes, panics, and broader embedded application and system issues on target hardware.
- Use digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Lauterbach TRACE32, and JTAG emulators for hardware troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with hardware and BIOS teams on new platform bring-up.
- Translate business requirements into agile stories and tasks for planning and execution.
- Lead efforts to bring telematics products and solutions to market.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, communications, computer engineering, or a similar discipline.
- 4–8 years of hands-on research or industry experience developing or porting device drivers for ARM-based SoC platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Linux kernel architecture, internals, device-driver concepts, and power management.
- Hands-on experience with PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, eMMC/SD, audio interfaces, I2S, ALSA, and codecs.
- Experience bringing up new hardware and reading schematics, PCB assembly files, and SoC and peripheral datasheets.
- Strong hardware troubleshooting and debugging experience using digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Lauterbach TRACE32, or similar tools.
- Experience troubleshooting Linux kernel crashes and panics is preferred.
- Experience with Git and Gerrit is preferred.
- Experience with Linux kernel development on hardware platforms with 4G/5G telephony interfaces and microcontrollers is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across geographies are preferred.
