Responsibilities
- Design and build agentic workflows that plan, call tools, and chain multi-step actions.
- Integrate large language models into products and internal tools through APIs and inference or serving frameworks.
- Architect retrieval-augmented generation pipelines involving document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, retrieval, and vector databases.
- Design and iterate on prompts, system instructions, and context-management strategies.
- Select and integrate orchestration tooling for multi-agent and multi-step workflows.
- Build evaluation harnesses and test suites to measure accuracy, reliability, and regression.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into technical specifications, prototypes, and production solutions.
- Collaborate with product, operations, and subject-matter stakeholders on automation opportunities.
- Monitor deployed AI workflows using observability tooling for latency, cost, and output quality.
- Stay current with AI agent frameworks, models, and techniques and recommend appropriate adoption.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience building applications on top of LLM APIs, including API providers or self-hosted inference.
- Practical experience with at least one agent orchestration framework or workflow automation platform.
- Strong understanding of RAG architecture, including embeddings, vector search, chunking, and retrieval strategy.
- Strong general-purpose programming ability in Python and/or a modern backend language.
- Ability to independently design technical solutions for abstract business problems.
- Comfort working with APIs, containers, and cloud or on-premises infrastructure.
- Experience with vector databases and hybrid search or reranking is an asset.
- Familiarity with LLM inference or serving frameworks and model-routing gateway or proxy layers is an asset.
- Experience with AI evaluation and observability pipelines is an asset.
- Exposure to multi-agent design patterns and production AI features or automations is an asset.
- Basic familiarity with model fine-tuning concepts is an asset.
- Ability to work in-office in Wilmington, North Carolina.

- Starting annual total compensation, including base salary and performance incentives, ranges from $115,000 to $160,000 USD depending on experience.
