Base Salary

$115k - $145k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, gRPC endpoints, and SQL queries powering the sportsbook marketplace.
  • Own high-scope technical problems by drafting proposals and presenting them to leadership and partner teams.
  • Design, architect, and deliver platform features end to end.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and risks and implement changes to improve scalability.
  • Participate in the Sportsbook Platform Support rotation, including release and deployment management.
  • Set up and refine DataDog monitoring and alerting for owned systems.
  • Mentor engineers through technical specifications, pairing, and code review.
  • Review work from other teams contributing to the codebase and help define upcoming work.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong computer science foundations in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience with production systems at scale, load testing, tracing, and investigating CPU and latency regressions.
  • Experience with on-call rotations and owning production service release cycles end to end.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, including Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, Fast API, Laravel, or Node.
  • Experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for iOS, Android, and web clients.
  • Experience building multi-client or white-label platforms with geo-based routing and per-client configuration.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized service operations.
  • Comfort working in the terminal and with Git and GitHub or similar tools.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent.
  • Experience with background job systems such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.
  • Experience with asynchronous event infrastructure such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
  • Preferred qualifications include Absinthe GraphQL experience, hexagonal architecture, Domain Driven Development, open-source contributions, startup experience, and interest in sports or esports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience authoring technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documents.
