Base Salary
$405k - $485k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and operation of production API capabilities used by developers worldwide.
- Lead API readiness for new Claude model launches across APIs, SDKs, documentation, safety controls, and cloud partners.
- Translate new model abilities from research prototypes into durable, simple, and safe public API features.
- Build and operate tools such as web search and code execution under real traffic.
- Automate model-launch workflows and build evaluations that detect capability regressions before launch.
- Set technical direction across multiple teams, write design proposals, review API designs, and mentor engineers.
- Coordinate launch readiness, resolve late issues, and improve the speed and safety of future launches.
Requirements
- Experience leading technical projects spanning multiple teams from design through launch and operation.
- Experience designing and operating production distributed systems where correctness, latency, and availability matter.
- Strong product sense with attention to API design and developer experience.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions amid changing models, priorities, and launch deadlines.
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to research, product, go-to-market partners, and non-engineers.
- Experience improving other engineers through design reviews and mentoring.
- Regular use of AI tools in designing, building, and reviewing software.
- Commitment to the societal impact of AI and Anthropic’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a relevant field demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
- Strong candidates may also have experience building public APIs, SDKs, or developer platforms; working with large language models, tool use, agents, or evaluations; running launches or migrations; building agent tools; operating storage, memory, or context systems at scale; or integrating AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
Benefits
- Annual compensation range of $405,000—$485,000 USD.
- Visa sponsorship is offered, with reasonable efforts made after an offer and immigration-lawyer support, although sponsorship cannot be successfully provided for every role or candidate.
- Hybrid policy requiring staff to work from an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office time.
