Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Set technical direction through AI reference architectures, design principles, and trade-off decisions.
- Design and maintain evaluation datasets, methods, regression checks, quality thresholds, and dashboards for AI behavior.
- Guide production readiness across observability, tracing, versioning, monitoring, incident response, privacy, security, reliability, cost, latency, and lifecycle management.
- Create reusable patterns and reference implementations, coach engineers through architecture reviews, and help teams move prototypes into production.
- Partner with product, operations, and domain teams to identify workflow opportunities and measure AI outcomes.
- Prototype high-risk or foundational designs, review critical implementations, and refine architecture using production evidence.
- Evaluate models, agent runtimes, orchestration approaches, and evaluation tooling and recommend adoption based on evidence.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of backend software development experience.
- At least 3 years of AI architecture experience with demonstrated organization-wide impact.
- Strong experience designing and delivering production software systems, including substantial work on AI/ML-powered products or services.
- Experience setting technical direction across teams and influencing decisions through evidence and collaboration.
- Practical understanding of LLM applications, retrieval and context construction, tool use, agent patterns, model selection, and failure handling.
- Experience defining AI quality expectations, building evaluations, and connecting offline evaluations to production outcomes.
- Understanding of production concerns including observability, privacy, security, reliability, cost, latency, and safe human escalation.
- Clear communication with engineering, product, and executive audiences, plus hands-on prototyping and implementation-review ability.
- Helpful experience with shared AI platforms, service patterns, architecture standards, evaluation datasets, test harnesses, regression suites, quality dashboards, measurable AI products, cloud AI platforms, model APIs, agent frameworks, tracing tools, evaluation tools, and data platforms.
Benefits
- Posted compensation range is $129,600 to $288,000 USD, subject to business needs and factors including location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity.
- For applicable OTE roles, the pay range may include base salary and target incentive compensation, with additional information available from the recruiter.
