Base Salary
$250k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture for reasoning loops, planning, decomposition, state, sessions, and recovery behavior in long-running AI tasks.
- Build retrieval, memory, and context-window management for construction documents, jurisdictional requirements, submissions, and customer conventions.
- Define assistant tools, permissions, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints for costly or irreversible actions.
- Build offline and online evaluation harnesses for task completion and failure modes, and establish iteration processes for improving agent quality.
- Create abstractions, SDKs, and review standards for organization-wide agentic development.
- Engage directly with permit coordinators and builders to observe product behavior and inform system design.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including recent experience building LLM-powered products.
- Experience shipping an assistant or agentic product at meaningful scale.
- Deep current knowledge of tool calling, tool design, context engineering, memory, retrieval, and orchestration patterns.
- Experience building evaluation harnesses and assessing whether evaluations are trustworthy.
- Strong production software engineering experience, including ownership of production services and maintainable code.
- Ability to influence through technical judgment, working code, and clear writing.
