Base Salary
$150k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build teleoperation and operator tools for leader arms, VR, and other interfaces, including calibration, action mapping, latency handling, and reliable recording.
- Implement episode workflows for task instructions, resets, annotations, success labels, and human takeover while separating policy actions from human corrections.
- Create collection quality checks for frame drops, timestamp alignment, missing signals, calibration validity, and incomplete episodes.
- Build collection specifications and adapters that validate external partner data against task requirements, schemas, calibration, and provenance.
- Maintain raw recordings as the source of truth and make normalization and export to training formats reproducible.
- Track collection progress and coverage to identify missing variations and difficult cases.
- Test tools on real robots and document setup and troubleshooting for engineers, operators, and partners.
Requirements
- Experience building data collection, teleoperation, sensor recording, or human-in-the-loop tooling used on real robots or autonomous systems and validated on hardware.
- Strong Python skills and software engineering fundamentals, including APIs, tests, versioned schemas, and data-pipeline debugging.
- Experience with synchronized video, robot state, actions, or other multimodal time-series data.
- Working knowledge of coordinate frames, sensor calibration, data provenance, and how collection errors affect trained models.
- Experience building tools for other people and improving them based on real-world use.
- Ability to turn task descriptions into executable collection workflows with learning, hardware, and operations teams.
- Preferred experience with ROS 2, MCAP, LeRobot, HDF5, or robotics-dataset adapters.
- Preferred experience with VR teleoperation, leader-follower systems, motion retargeting, haptics, takeover-based learning, video and trajectory inspection, annotation, dataset validation, data grading, sensor fusion, offline trajectory reconstruction, coverage analysis, or active data collection.
