Responsibilities
- Own the core data model and entity resolution for issuers, instruments, deals, counterparties, and legal documents.
- Make and remain accountable for foundational architectural decisions affecting multiple engineering teams.
- Write RFCs, facilitate technical debate, and make long-lived architecture decisions.
- Provide architectural coherence across Analytics, AI, Platform, and Product Engineering.
- Identify technical risks and compounding complexity before they become incidents.
- Set engineering standards for system design, observability, reliability, and API design.
- Serve as the senior technical voice in cross-team planning, roadmap discussions, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Mentor and stretch senior engineers across the organization.
- Write code, prototypes, deep dives, and production pull requests when needed to validate or unblock technical direction.
Requirements
- Experience operating at Principal or Staff level in a data-intensive, fast-moving engineering organization.
- Deep production experience with complex data modeling, entity resolution, and data pipelines.
- Proven experience designing and shipping AI/LLM systems, including RAG, structured extraction, and evaluation frameworks beyond the prototype stage.
- Strong backend and distributed-systems knowledge, including APIs, service architecture, scalability, and observability.
- Experience making and owning foundational architectural decisions that affected an entire engineering organization.
- Proficiency in Python and comfort working across the stack where needed.
- Experience with financial data, legal documents, or other semi-structured, domain-rich datasets is preferred.
- Founding engineer, early-stage CTO, or technical lead experience building systems from scratch is preferred.
