Base Salary

$110k - $151k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop end-to-end full-stack features for students, teachers, and school administrators.
  • Design scalable data models and schemas using relational database technologies.
  • Build and maintain highly available web and backend systems serving millions of users and thousands of requests per second.
  • Maintain and evolve backend services including curricula-api and progress services.
  • Use AI tooling thoughtfully to improve individual and team software development workflows.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and help establish technical direction and engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers in a distributed remote environment.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and resolve customer-facing incidents.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software development experience shipping high-quality web software for large user populations.
  • Strong full-stack experience with React or a comparable single-page application framework, TypeScript, backend services, and APIs.
  • Solid data modeling skills and experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work on an agile, multidisciplinary team.
  • Preferred experience with event-based or event-driven architecture.
  • Preferred experience with AWS, ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3/CloudFront, ElastiCache, Lambda, Docker, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Bugsnag, or similar tooling.
  • Passion for education and improving outcomes for students and teachers.
