Responsibilities

  • Lead the hands-on architecture and implementation of robust, horizontally scalable, highly available, and performant Python applications and frameworks.
  • Design software platforms for high-throughput data computation, processing, and quantitative calculations.
  • Develop and secure RESTful APIs, integration patterns, database schemas, and distributed-system solutions.
  • Enforce software development lifecycle practices through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
  • Own technical initiatives including planning, forecasting, project tracking, governance, and team-level technology budgets.
  • Drive continuous improvement, change management, and modern software engineering practices within the development team.
  • Partner with Risk Managers, Risk Analytics, Senior Quants, Front Office, DevOps, Production Support, virtual teams, and external partners.
  • Communicate technical topics and delivery status effectively to engineering teams and senior business executives.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of hands-on application development experience focused primarily on Python, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Expert proficiency in Python 3.x, advanced computation libraries, object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
  • Advanced knowledge of FastAPI, Django, and Flask, plus distributed systems and software architecture principles.
  • Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, advanced SQL, and query optimization.
  • Strong Unix/Linux, shell scripting, cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, automated testing, Git, and secure coding experience.
  • Experience with AWS or IBM Symphony Grid, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Pytest, and unittest.
  • Multiple years of quantitative or calculation-intensive Python development using NumPy, Pandas, or SciPy.
  • Experience with market risk, stress testing, Value at Risk, sensitivities, mathematical modeling, and regulatory risk delivery.
  • Exposure to AI/ML frameworks, GitHub Copilot, Devin, Claude, Gemini, GPT, agentic AI tools, and generative AI concepts.
  • Strong collaboration, analytical thinking, systems thinking, design thinking, ownership, adaptability, and executive communication skills.
  • Banking or financial-services experience in pricing, valuation, or risk management systems is preferred.
  • Relevant AWS, Azure, GCP, industry, CFA, or FRM certifications are preferred.
