Responsibilities
- Own the maintenance and support of the existing Virscidian product portfolio.
- Investigate and resolve software defects, production issues, and customer-reported problems.
- Maintain and enhance C#/.NET applications, including WPF and WinForms desktop interfaces, services, Web APIs, and supporting components.
- Work with SQL Server databases, data access layers, stored procedures, and application data models.
- Support Azure-hosted resources and existing build, deployment, and release processes.
- Troubleshoot issues across software, databases, configuration, deployments, and customer environments.
- Implement new features and product enhancements as customer and business needs evolve.
- Collaborate with Support, Business Development, Product Management, and engineering teams to understand priorities and customer impact.
- Improve visibility and communication of product issues for engineering and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to SaaS platform work, scientific algorithms, performance improvements, scalability initiatives, and future product development when appropriate.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications with C# and the .NET platform.
- Experience maintaining Windows desktop applications and user interfaces.
- Strong experience with relational databases, SQL Server, data access, troubleshooting, and performance considerations.
- Experience developing and supporting Web APIs and application integrations.
- Experience with applications and services deployed in Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with source control, automated builds, deployment, release management, and troubleshooting deployed applications.
- Experience supporting mature production software through bug fixes, maintenance releases, and incremental feature development.
- Ability to diagnose problems across application, database, infrastructure, and customer environments.
- Ability to take ownership of a product area, manage priorities, and follow issues through to completion.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across multiple teams.
- Ability to work independently and make practical engineering decisions within an established product architecture.
- Ability to contribute to SaaS architecture and development, scientific or analytical algorithms, performance optimization, and scalability work.
- Experience with scientific or laboratory software, chromatography, mass spectrometry, CDS, LIMS, ELN, laboratory informatics, regulated or enterprise environments, legacy Microsoft technology stacks, or customer-specific configurations is beneficial.
- An electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science, or related technical background is beneficial.
