Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Set the technical vision and multi-year strategy for agentic engineering across WSSI.
- Architect and build agentic systems from experimentation through production deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Develop closed-loop workflows that use telemetry, engineering data, tools, and reasoning for issue detection, diagnostics, debugging, remediation, and outcome verification.
- Establish scalable architectures for orchestration, context engineering, tool integration, evaluation, observability, reliability, and safe operation.
- Define production AI quality standards, evaluation methods, safeguards, failure-mode analysis, and operational practices.
- Measure engineering productivity, product quality, workflow reliability, developer experience, and sustained adoption using feedback loops and evidence.
- Drive technical alignment and reusable engineering standards across organizational boundaries.
- Establish standards for responsible AI, security, privacy, compliance, and human oversight.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders and develop communities of practice around agentic engineering.
- Track industry and research advances and translate relevant developments into technical recommendations and experiments.
- Identify opportunities to extend WSSI technologies and workflows to broader engineering scenarios and partner organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 8+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
- Experience with modern AI-assisted engineering tools in software development workflows such as design, coding, testing, validation, diagnostics, debugging, or operations.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams or AI squads across team or organizational boundaries.
- Experience moving agentic projects from prototypes into production or sustained multi-team adoption with measurable impact.
- Experience architecting production agentic systems involving orchestration, tool use, prompt and context engineering, retrieval, evaluation, observability, reliability, cost, latency, and integration.
- Experience delivering telemetry-driven issue detection, validation, automated diagnostics or debugging, code remediation, and closed-loop verification at scale.
- Experience in operating system development, driver development, performance and power analysis, responsible AI, or security is preferred.

- U.S. base pay is listed for the role, with location-specific ranges for the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.

- The Microsoft Cloud background check is required upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
