Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and design for large-scale systems and feature areas while accounting for growth, compliance, performance, and reliability constraints.
- Determine technical approaches for ambiguous, complex assignments and provide direction across teams without formal management authority.
- Partner with Product, UX, and engineering teams to shape problems and solutions early in the development process.
- Establish code review, testing, and incident-review standards that can be adopted across teams.
- Identify and address technical debt, architectural drift, and single points of failure before they become incidents.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers on technical judgment, decision-making, ambiguity, escalation, and effective use of AI-assisted tooling.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering or software development experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with object-oriented design methodology and application development using Java/J2EE, design patterns, data structures and algorithms, multithreading, Spring MVC, SQL, and web services.
- Experience with Elasticsearch and data streaming tools such as Kafka.
- Understanding of web services and SOA-related standards including REST, OAuth, and JSON.
- Experience with Agile development practices including Scrum, XP, or pair programming.
- Ability to use open-source technologies and cloud services, including Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
- Hands-on professional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Devin, Windsurf, or similar.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes, including cluster deployment, scaling, and management, is highly desirable.
