Base Salary
$264k - $395k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve foundational Android infrastructure including modularization, dependency injection, navigation, deep linking, and app lifecycle systems.
- Design and deliver shared libraries and frameworks for Cash App feature teams with strong developer and AI ergonomics.
- Drive Android architecture decisions and develop platform technology, including open-sourcing it where valuable.
- Build observability and performance tooling that improves clarity for engineers and on-callers.
- Partner with iOS, web, backend, product, and design teams on consistent cross-platform experiences and platform investments.
- Evaluate and introduce AI development tools including Claude Code, GPT/Codex, and Goose.
- Build AI-powered platform capabilities where they create durable value for product teams.
- Identify cross-cutting technical problems, lead architecture and design reviews, set scalable standards, and mobilize resources across teams.
- Mentor engineers at all levels and represent Android platform needs in cross-functional and Block-wide technical discussions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of Android development experience with demonstrated organizational impact.
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven organizational leadership driving large-scale technical initiatives across multiple teams.
- Active use of AI-assisted development tools with a clear perspective on their benefits and limitations.
- Deep expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, modern Android architecture, build systems, performance profiling, and testing at scale.
- Experience building developer platforms, shared libraries, or internal tooling used across large engineering organizations is preferred.
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform is preferred.
- Background in fintech, financial services, or other high-trust regulated environments is preferred.
- Experience with mobile experimentation infrastructure, feature flagging, or A/B testing at scale is preferred.
