Responsibilities
- Own integration architecture solutions and standards across software platforms, instruments, applications, and enterprise systems.
- Define and validate API design, event-driven architecture, schema governance, versioning, and integration contract standards.
- Architect and hands-on guide containerized integration solutions using Kubernetes across edge and cloud environments.
- Review and approve critical integration designs and make binding architecture decisions across product teams.
- Build reusable integration patterns and reference implementations, including working code and blueprints.
- Lead integrations involving connected instruments, laboratory systems, IoT devices, and edge computing environments.
- Partner across divisions and external boundaries to solve complex cross-system architecture problems.
- Identify and remediate technical debt, governance bypasses, and cross-team coupling risks in integration patterns.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering or architecture experience, including 5+ years in hands-on integration architecture roles.
- Deep practical expertise in REST/GraphQL API design, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, and schema governance.
- Strong hands-on experience deploying, operating, and architecting Kubernetes containerized workloads at platform scale.
- Experience with Docker and cloud-native deployment patterns across edge and cloud environments.
- Experience architecting integrations for connected devices, instruments, industrial equipment, IoT platforms, or similar hardware-centric ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of device connectivity, telemetry, edge computing, machine-to-cloud communication, and real-time data integration patterns.
- Track record of delivering integration solutions through implementation and owning their technical quality.
- Experience setting and enforcing API versioning, schema management, and contract-based integration standards.
- Ability to make and defend binding architecture decisions across teams with competing priorities.
- Preferred: experience in scientific instrumentation, laboratory software, or regulated industries such as life sciences and diagnostics.
- Preferred: familiarity with service mesh, API gateway, and platform-level integration infrastructure.
- Preferred: experience integrating AI/ML inference services and data pipelines through governed integration patterns.
- Preferred: background working across organizational boundaries and integrating systems owned by separate divisions or external partners.
- Preferred: exposure to GitOps, infrastructure-as-code, and DevSecOps practices in a platform engineering context.
