Responsibilities
- Design and implement Scala and Java backend services and APIs across staging and production environments.
- Build Scala endpoints that run machine-learning forecasting models.
- Develop RabbitMQ and Kinesis consumers for the feature storage system.
- Design and implement optimized data-processing and ETL pipelines.
- Improve information-retrieval frameworks and libraries supporting candidate-job matching.
- Automate complex Python data logic into clean, maintainable ETL code.
- Own projects through brainstorming, design, implementation, production deployment, and ongoing performance awareness.
- Define protocols and procedures, raise code quality standards, and mentor other engineers.
- Investigate proof-of-concept solutions and lead their implementation into production.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience as a backend developer, primarily building Scala and/or Java services and APIs.
- Experience writing production-quality code in container-based environments.
- Experience working with Amazon Web Services.
- Experience with RDBMS, NoSQL, document-based, and key-value databases.
- Strong Scala experience and comfort working across multiple programming languages and frameworks.
- Desirable experience with Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kinesis, Spark/Hadoop, and ClickHouse.
- Desirable experience with ETL and data-preprocessing pipelines, primarily in Python, and with Airflow or other frameworks.
- Valid work permit to be employed in Spain.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Ability to take ownership, mentor teammates, and work across Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Analytics projects.
