Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Geneious cloud products across their components.
- Integrate cloud services and build new services primarily in Scala with some Java.
- Package software as Docker containers, deploy it to EKS, and operate it in production using DevSecOps practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues and customers to establish requirements and iterate on designs.
- Contribute to testing, documentation, and support within a cross-functional development team.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in cloud and backend engineering.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, Kubernetes/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
- Strong backend engineering skills in Java and/or Scala, including distributed systems and data-intensive applications.
- Experience designing cloud-native architectures involving containerization, serverless systems, and managed database services.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of biology is not required.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AI backend systems such as MCP servers and tooling, cloud security, networking, reliability, observability, monitoring, FinOps, and cloud cost optimization.
