Responsibilities
- Deliver availability, stability, performance, and reliability improvements for Gartner’s digital products.
- Establish multi-CDN architecture, traffic steering, failover mechanisms, and operational standards targeting five-nines availability.
- Lead CDN incident response, disaster recovery exercises, capacity planning, performance optimization, and production issue resolution.
- Implement edge security capabilities including DDoS protection, WAF policies, bot management, rate limiting, and zero-trust access controls.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions for CDN configurations, governance policies, observability, WAF rules, and deployments.
- Design global traffic management policies covering DNS routing, certificate management, and load balancing.
- Implement edge-computing solutions using Cloudflare Workers, Lambda@Edge, or equivalent technologies.
- Define and monitor CDN SLOs, SLIs, and KPIs, and develop alerting, dashboards, and operational reporting.
- Automate manual operational work, lead system design consulting and launch reviews, and establish chaos engineering practices.
- Collaborate with development, product, security, infrastructure, database, architecture, operations, and project management teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of information technology experience, including 6+ years working on a DevOps/SRE team or similar team with a CDN focus.
- Expert knowledge and hands-on experience designing, operating, and optimizing enterprise multi-CDN environments using platforms such as Fastly, Cloudflare, CloudFront, or Akamai.
- Experience with multi-CDN routing and failover using DNS, GSLB, traffic management platforms, or RUM-driven traffic steering.
- Experience managing CDN platforms with Terraform/OpenTofu, CI/CD pipelines, Fastly VCL, Cloudflare APIs, or equivalent automation frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD governance, code promotions, Infrastructure-as-Code practices, CDN observability, performance analytics, log analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of WAF, bot mitigation, DDoS protection, rate limiting, and zero-trust access controls.
- Preferred experience with Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda@Edge, Fastly VCL, Fastly Compute, Node.js, JavaScript, React, jQuery, ACM certificates, Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, UNIX/Linux, networking, performance engineering, and chaos engineering.
- Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, prioritization, influencing, people-management, and team-leadership skills.
- Knowledge of Agile approaches and the ability to deliver solutions incrementally.
