Responsibilities
- Lead a Financial Crime Protection intelligence solution from intent through design, build, verification, release, and operation.
- Translate fraud, AML, investigation, intelligence, and protection requirements into safe production engineering outcomes.
- Set boundaries between signals, investigations, human decisions, and actions in downstream systems.
- Create traceable contracts across source data, events, entities, facts, signals, models, agents, reviews, and downstream systems.
- Build and guide backend services, APIs, data stores, modern web applications, AI services, and accessible human review workflows.
- Enforce bounded agent tools, access controls, least privilege, data minimisation, pseudonymisation, and controlled disclosure.
- Lead versioned and reversible releases for data contracts, models, embeddings, APIs, and workflows, including rollback and recovery.
- Mentor engineers and turn specialist delivery lessons into reusable patterns.
Requirements
- Deep Financial Crime Protection domain-SME experience with practical knowledge of fraud, AML, investigations, intelligence workflows, controls, and human decision-making in complex regulated environments.
- Expert full-stack engineering experience across backend services, APIs, data stores, and modern web applications.
- Experience with Go or Python, SQL, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
- Strong API, event, dataflow, and service-boundary design experience, including identity, entitlements, state, audit, and recovery.
- Strong data, graph, and investigation engineering knowledge covering lineage, time, quality, entity resolution, bounded traversal, and purpose-based access.
- Strong AI service engineering experience with ML signals, LLMs, RAG, agents, prompt and model evaluation, tool controls, versioning, monitoring, and fallback.
- Experience designing accessible human review systems with evidence, provenance, uncertainty, approval, disposition, and recovery.
- Sound judgement in selecting rules, SQL, conventional ML, graphs, or generative AI for simple and safe solutions.
- Ability to apply engineering, security, privacy, Responsible AI, risk, and operational resilience requirements.
