Responsibilities
- Lead the migration of CloudFormation infrastructure as code to TypeScript using AWS CDK.
- Establish infrastructure-as-code patterns, module structures, testing strategies, and code review standards.
- Build GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure validation, plan and diff review, and safe deployment.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, resilient AWS architectures and modernization strategies.
- Implement AWS services across compute, networking, storage, IAM, databases, and serverless workloads.
- Troubleshoot delivery issues and guide teams on operational best practices, performance, reliability, security, multi-region architecture, and disaster recovery.
- Plan and facilitate gameday exercises and execute AWS Fault Injection Service experiments to validate failover and recovery objectives.
- Document resilience findings, drive remediation, and expand experiment coverage over time.
- Gather requirements, validate solution designs, and advise stakeholders on cloud strategy and modernization.
- Mentor team members and develop documentation, reusable assets, templates, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in cloud architecture and implementation.
- Strong TypeScript proficiency, including typing, project structure, and testing with Jest or a similar tool.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code at scale using CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Terraform.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience migrating or refactoring legacy infrastructure as code, especially from CloudFormation to AWS CDK or Terraform.
- Advanced TypeScript experience creating reusable CDK constructs, publishing internal packages, or maintaining shared TypeScript libraries.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, IAM, VPC, and CloudFormation.
- Experience with infrastructure CI/CD, particularly GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with multi-region architectures, failover mechanics, and RPO/RTO tradeoffs.
- Experience with chaos engineering or resilience testing, AWS Fault Injection Service, gamedays, or disaster recovery drills.
- AWS Professional certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional are preferred.
- Understanding of security and compliance requirements in regulated environments, including PCI-DSS.
- Strong communication skills for engaging business and technical stakeholders.
