Responsibilities
- Architect and implement mission-critical observability platform components focused on performance, scalability, cost-efficiency, resiliency, security, durability, availability, and maintainability.
- Design observability improvements for diagnosing production issues across metrics, logs, traces, events, and alerts.
- Write, improve, review, and maintain production-ready database and observability code.
- Diagnose test failures, fix bugs, prevent regressions, and investigate the performance impact of code changes.
- Handle production customer escalations, work with support engineers, and participate in the on-call rotation.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, interview advanced software engineering candidates, and promote engineering best practices.
- Lead development and project management for large cross-company initiatives and collaborate with Product Management and engineering leadership on product direction and roadmaps.
- Develop expertise in database and observability developments and champion unit and integration testing.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing, programming, debugging, and tuning distributed or highly concurrent mission-critical software systems using C, C++, Java, or Rust.
- Experience operating latency-sensitive, high-throughput systems.
- Strong systems fundamentals, including multithreaded programming, performance profiling, and expert-level programming ability.
- Familiarity with database internals or core components for data processing systems.
- Familiarity with observability ecosystems and best practices.
- Excellent technical communication, collaboration, mentoring, time management, and project management skills.
- Ability to assess project cost and complexity realistically.
- Understanding of information security management.
- Indexing or database performance-tuning experience is preferred.
