Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities
- Own software spanning the Mission Command organization.
- Design and deliver well-architected systems with clear interfaces across components.
- Conduct and participate in code reviews and design reviews.
- Champion testability, portability, monitoring, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Develop software from problem definition and solution design through implementation and customer delivery.
- Collaborate across multiple teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
- Triage issues, identify root causes, and coordinate next steps.
- Travel up to 10% of the time to collaborate with teammates and understand real-world operating conditions.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience working with a variety of programming languages.
- Experience or ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established codebases.
- Ability to deliver software rapidly and pragmatically with strong ownership.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
- Experience designing APIs for distributed systems is preferred.
- Experience building modeling and simulation environments for distributed systems in non-standard networking conditions is preferred.
- Familiarity with NixOS, Terraform, AWS, and Azure is preferred.
- Strong understanding of computers, networks, distributed systems, networking, security, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, logging, and data management is preferred.
- Professional software development lifecycle experience with version control and CI/CD systems is preferred.
