Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, resilient systems and implement iterative improvements for product teams.
- Write, document, and unit test code while ensuring software quality and design constraints are met.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications.
- Lead team adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering tools and establish standards for validating AI-generated outputs.
- Apply software development lifecycle tools and automation capabilities to improve delivery outcomes.
- Mentor team members in design, new technologies, clean code, testing, code review, and problem solving.
- Investigate issues and collaborate with product stakeholders and customers regarding application functionality and user experience.
- Incorporate telemetry, monitoring, security, alerts, and logging into software solutions.
- Handle concurrent critical tasks, identify delivery improvements, and assist with production-related issues.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Expertise in object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns, software analysis, and software design.
- Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating their correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI practices, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Experience with Java, REST web services and APIs, Spring Boot, microservices, multithreading, and databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or Cockroach.
- Experience with Terraform or similar declarative infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, or BlazeMeter.
- Experience with issue and bug management, collaboration tools, Git, Jenkins, CI/CD, application resiliency, security, performance, telemetry, monitoring, alerts, and logging.
- Preferred experience with customer-facing web applications, MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, agentic AI, and technical team leadership.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently and stay self-motivated.
- Preferred AI/ML or Java certification.
