Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering support to OEM/ODM customers throughout product design, integration, validation, optimization, testing, and commercialization.
- Guide USB and peripheral integration across hardware, firmware, operating-system, and application layers.
- Reproduce customer issues, identify root causes, recommend solutions, and drive issues to closure across regions and time zones.
- Support USB host, device, dual-role, USB2, USB3, USB4, and USB Type-C integration, validation, interoperability, and certification.
- Debug USB drivers, system hangs, crashes, kernel stability problems, and unexpected behavior across Linux, Android, Windows, firmware, UEFI, and bootloader environments.
- Perform USB2/USB3 PHY tuning, link validation, electrical compliance, throughput characterization, and system performance optimization.
- Use JTAG, GDB, logs, crash dumps, tracing tools, platform diagnostics, and LeCroy or equivalent protocol analyzers for system and protocol debugging.
- Analyze interactions among USB, PCIe, I2C, SPI, UART, memory, storage, clocks, regulators, PMICs, thermal policies, and power states.
- Correlate logs, traces, protocol captures, hardware measurements, and test results to develop validated patches or workarounds.
- Prepare technical reports, debug plans, presentations, validation plans, and commercialization-readiness updates.
- Collaborate with platform, silicon, hardware, BIOS/UEFI, firmware, driver, OS, validation, and test teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or a qualifying master's degree or PhD.
- At least 3 years of relevant software, embedded-systems, platform-integration, validation, or customer-engineering experience in the stated minimum qualifications.
- At least 3 years of experience with programming or scripting languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python in the stated minimum qualifications.
- At least 3 years of experience with system debugging, driver development, protocol analysis, or performance and stability analysis in the stated minimum qualifications.
- Strong C/C++ and embedded-programming skills are preferred.
- Experience developing or debugging Linux or Android software in user space and/or kernel space is required.
- Experience with JTAG, GDB, logs, tracing tools, crash-analysis utilities, or similar system-debugging methods is required.
- USB4 certification, USB2/USB3 Gen 2 PHY tuning, USB driver development, USB UEFI workflows, protocol analysis, throughput tuning, and Linux or Windows stability analysis are preferred.
- Experience with Qualcomm platforms, embedded Linux, Android BSPs, UEFI, Windows, bootloaders, embedded products, or connected devices is preferred.

About Qualcomm
Qualcomm is a public semiconductor company headquartered in San Diego, founded in 1985, that designs and sells wireless chipsets and platforms for mobile devices, automotive, IoT, and networking, notably the Snapdragon application processors and 5G modems. It also licenses a large portfolio of cellular patents to device makers, generating revenue alongside chip sales; its technology underpins many Android smartphones and emerging automotive and edge-compute systems, and it trades on NASDAQ as QCOM.
