Responsibilities
- Design and develop onboard software for next-generation satellites, Embedded Linux software for space and ground systems, firmware, drivers, and IoT modules.
- Write thorough tests and documentation and participate in software design and code review processes.
- Collaborate with electrical, digital design, and operations teams to identify features and define system architecture.
- Work with embedded operating systems, build systems, hardware interfaces, and real-time constraints.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working in embedded systems and strong software design and development skills.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with embedded concepts such as multitasking, real-time constraints, and hardware interfaces.
- Experience with OpenEmbedded/Yocto, FreeRTOS, and Embedded Linux; user-space development is most common, with possible kernel or driver work.
- Experience with testing, debugging, Git, and effective technical communication.
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary or Computer Science or equivalent degree program and returning to studies after the internship.
- Available for a full-time four-month internship beginning January 2027 and able to work on-site at the Toronto office.
- Bonus qualifications include Python development, computer networking and modern networking protocols, RTL with Verilog or VHDL, embedded SoCs, and hardware debugging using oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.
