Site Reliability Engineer II (Platform)

- Collaborate with engineering teams, provide technical feedback, and contribute code to improve product functionality and resilience.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support the availability of critical services.
- Design and develop operational tools for follow-the-sun support of production systems.
- Automate deployment tasks for core products and infrastructure and maintain the automation framework.
- Monitor and optimize application performance on the Guidewire Cloud Platform.
- Develop observability tools, metrics, dashboards, and self-healing mechanisms.
- Promote reliability practices including blameless postmortems and SLO tracking.
- Identify and resolve infrastructure issues to minimize business impact.
- Create system documentation and training materials.
Requirements
- Program with Python or Go to build internal tools, CLIs, and APIs; Java and Spring Boot familiarity is a plus.
- Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills.
- Have hands-on expertise with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes including EKS, CNI, and Ingress networking.
- Understand Kubernetes pods, deployments, services, statefulsets, ingress, and the Operator pattern.
- Develop and test complex Terraform modules.
- Have advanced AWS experience, including custom tooling with the AWS SDK.
- Understand SSO, SAML, and OAuth; Okta experience is a bonus.
- Use observability tools such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or Datadog.
- Have production-at-scale support experience in a heavily microservice-based environment.
- Have experience with TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Be familiar with Scrum and Kanban methodologies and able to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Kubernetes or AWS certifications and open-source contributions are bonus qualifications.
- Experience with Kubevela/OAM or Crossplane is a bonus.
