Staff Backend Engineer- Agent Experience

Responsibilities
- Build API-first account provisioning, machine-to-machine authentication, scoped credentials, and agent-level identity and attribution.
- Own MCP servers and an agent-first CLI with token-efficient schemas, machine-parseable output, and actionable failures.
- Improve the reliability of uploads and core media operations for agent callers.
- Partner on instrumentation, signals, and attribution to measure agent success.
- Work across Node.js/TypeScript, Ruby/Rails, and Go while prototyping, dogfooding, measuring, and iterating on agent experiences.
Requirements
- 10+ years building and operating production APIs, SDKs, and backend systems at scale.
- Strong Node.js and TypeScript skills, with the ability to work in or quickly learn Ruby/Rails and/or Go.
- Deep API and protocol design knowledge, including authentication, OAuth, API keys, scoped permissions, versioning, idempotency, rate limiting, and clean contracts.
- Solid distributed-systems and cloud experience with AWS or an equivalent platform.
- Curiosity about agents and LLMs, strong ownership in ambiguous environments, and strong written communication.
- Experience with MCP, LLM tool or function calling, AI- or agent-native products, SDKs, CLIs, developer tools, media systems, or open-source agent and developer-tooling contributions is advantageous.
