Responsibilities
- Operate and support Apple Data Platform services across ML/AI platforms, big-data engines, catalog and governance layers, and multi-cloud infrastructure.
- Own reliability roadmaps for assigned services and automate manual operational processes through scripting and tooling.
- Participate in incident response, on-call, production support, fault analysis, and service reliability improvement.
- Provide hands-on technical support to internal engineering customers and translate unclear issues into diagnoses and resolutions.
- Implement and maintain observability practices covering metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Partner with developers and platform teams to improve deployment workflows, data services, and operational reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience.
- 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure-focused roles.
- Proficiency in Shell and Python scripting.
- Deep understanding of one or more of Spark, Flink, Airflow, Trino, or Notebooks.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and AWS services, including IAM roles, policies, permission boundaries, KMS, EKS, RDS, S3, and cloud storage and networking fundamentals.
- Strong experience implementing observability systems and practices using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and PagerDuty.
- Prior on-call, production-support, or customer-facing technical support experience and the ability to explain technical issues to non-expert customers.
- Familiarity with MCP-based tooling, ML lifecycle and dataset management systems, data pipeline orchestration, workflow scheduling, CI/CD pipelines, production databases, distributed SQL engines, query tuning, and query optimization is preferred.
- Experience automating manual operations and critically reviewing AI-generated output is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code is preferred.
